Raymond Robert Bowden Jr, 68, of Peoria, Illinois passed away Friday, January 26, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.

He was born on September 15, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois to Raymond R. and Helen DeVoss Bowden. He married Janet R. Kaczor on March 3, 1976 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2005 in Peoria. He is also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two children, Mark (Melissa) Bowden of Peoria and Angela Bowden of Pekin; three grandchildren, Matthias, Moriah and Micah Bowden;...

He was born on September 15, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois to Raymond R. and Helen DeVoss Bowden. He married Janet R. Kaczor on March 3, 1976 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2005 in Peoria. He is also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two children, Mark (Melissa) Bowden of Peoria and Angela Bowden of Pekin; three grandchildren, Matthias, Moriah and Micah Bowden; and one sister, Lynn (Kevin) Kerker of Peoria.

Raymond graduated from Manual High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Bradley University. He retired as Operations Manager for Illinois American Water Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria. He was a member of the Peoria Rotary, the Masonic Lodge, and contributed to many charitable organizations. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports and was both a Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed playing ball during visits with his grandchildren.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff of Lutheran Hillside Village and OSF St. Francis Medical Center for their care and compassion during Raymond's stay and illness.

Private services will be held at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Chaplain Jeff Harter of Lutheran Hillside Village will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville. .
